Pain In My Heart is Otis Redding's landmark debut album, one of the most important records in the history of soul music. Released in 1964 on Atco Records, it introduced the world to a voice that would define a generation. The album features Redding's first self-penned hit, "These Arms of Mine," alongside his visceral takes on "Stand By Me" and the title track "Pain in My Heart,” performances that remain as raw and affecting today as the day they were cut.
This pressing is part of the Rhino Reserve line, created in honor of Black History Month. It was mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab directly from the original analog mono master — no digital intermediary, no resampling — and pressed on 180-gram premium vinyl at Fidelity Record Pressing in Oxnard, California. The result is a faithful, high-fidelity reproduction of the original mono sound Otis Redding and producer Jim Stewart intended.
